RUA'S SON ACQUITTED.

AUCKLAND, October 6

Whata Rua, a son of the " Prophet " /Rua, was acquitted to-night on a charge of intent to disable or do grievous bodily harm to two constables by means of an axe at Maungapohatu, on April 2. When the case for the Crown had closed and accused had given evidence, the foreman of the jury conveyed to his Honour an. intimation that enough had been heard, and after retiring for a quarter of an hour a verdict of acquittal was returned.
