IN NEW ZEALAND. RECRUITING.
THE 'POSITION IN OTAGO.
DUNEDIN, October G
The position of recruiting in Otago at thti present moment is undoubtedly such as to call for prompt action on the part of the various recruiting organisations throughout the military district. Never before has the Otago district been in such a bad way. For the next draft, leaving for Trentham in about a fortnight, 562 ir.en have to be found. What concerns the' local committee most is that Dunedin has to furnish no fewer than 262 njon. Tho Otago Recruiting Committee has' therefore decided on a vigorous campaign, and demonstrations will be . hold nightly with the object of reducing tho appar-ent-shortage in tho quota for the 22nd Reinforcements. Possibly the next draft will bo made good by tho application of Clause 35, but meantime tho 22nd have* to be a full draft if at all possible.
