LONDON, October 6. Tt is officially stated that the Cunard liner Franconia, which was employed cm transport duty, was sunk by a sub-. marine in the on Wed-
nosday. Sho was not carrying troops at tho time. Twelve members of tho crew are missing, but 302 wero savod. j The Franconia was a magnificent •.uodem vessel of IS, 150 tons. She was ;'!iiit at Newcastle for the C'miard S.S. Company, Ltd. Her principal dimensions were: Length GOO feet, breadth n.3 foot, depth 40.4 feet.
