TIMARU GRAIN MARKET.
So fur as actual sales are concerned, the woek has been a comparatively quiet one on the local grain market. In the matter of shipping, however, business has been active, about .JU,UW sacks of wheat and potatoes having been sent to North Island ports. Very little wheat is now offering, but values remain firm at 5s 3d for Velvet. 4.S f lid to 5s for Hunters, and 4s lOd tor Tuscan, all at country stations. Sales of fowl wheat have been made at 4s 7Jd, and the value may ha said to be from 4s 7d to 4s 8d f.o.b. Oats have advanced, a little in -price, though none is offering locally. The firmer tone is attributed to heavy buying in'the north from Southland markers. Prime' Gartens are being retailed at 3s 4d to 3s 6d for seed lines. Feed oats are worth about 3s, Timaru. There is a good demand for grass seed. . -•■-.■ •-.
