AN OLD LANDMARK GONE.
CHRISTCHURCH, October 6
• One of the- old landmarks of Fendalton was totally destroyed by fire at 2.30 yesterday afternoon. This was a house in Snowdon Road, owned by Mrs Hanmer, and occupied, by her coachman, Mr Edwards. The building, was over 50 years old. Practically the whole of the furniture, which was insured for £75 in the Alliance Office, was saved. The. .insurances on the house were not available last night. Mrs Edwards and family had., been absent from the house for some time. 1
