NEW YORK, October 4. r Dr Alexis Carrel, of the Rockefeller Institute, announces that the adoption of reforms in surgical methods through-" out France has resulted in a vast diminution of amputations and of failuros in what have hitherto ,boen regarded as fatal wounds. Also the use of the Datift eolutioa in wounds is j rendering possible much grafting of' tissue, bone,'and flesh, hitherto found impracticable, on a large-scale. Another reform is the adoption of the American system of tho. " speeding up " of the/ transport of.- wounded. :
