AUCKLAND, October 4. Replying to a .suggestion that a woman inspector, of schools should be appointed in the Auckland district, the Education Department replies that the Act provides for tho employment of fomalo inspectors t>r> look after matters specially, pertaining to girls and infant work. This had not been lost sight of, but as such inspectors could not ta-ko the place of tho inspectors at present employed .but would be supple-mentary,-the time did not appear opportune for such extension.
