GERMANY'S SHORTAGE OF MEN

FRONTIER" SENTRIES REDUCED

(Router's Message.)

(Received October 5, 8.50 a.m.)

AMSTERDAM, October 4

The Germans have reduced the sentinels guarding the Dutch frontier from, one in every 100 metres to one in every 3000. Also, with a view oi' frightening away would-bo smugglers and deserters, the enemy arc using dummy soldiers, arranged 50 metres apart, on a portion of the front; they disappear at daybreak. On one section of the frontier there are cavalrymen only.

These stops are believed to indicate a great lack of men.
