Thq Department of Agriculture, In-. dustries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram, dated London, September 30, 1916, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand. (Note. —Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on. ' spot): — Meat. —There is a less demand for, all descriptions of frozen meat, owing fco large supplies of Home-killed • mutton and Scotch lambs, which are selling at comparatively low prices. NewZealand mutton prices are lower. New Zealand mutton, per Ib, Bgd, ewe mutton 8d; Argontino mutton, 7}d; Home-killed owe mutton, 7id to /Zd; New Zealand lamb, 9Jd; Argentine lamb, 85cl; Scotch lamb, 10id; Argentine chjlled beef, hinds 9d, fores 7d. Butter.— ; Tho market continues firm, owing to continued small supplies. Demand is likely to decrease. Stocks La cold store are very light, and declining rapidly. Position will remain most difficult for buyers until arrval of new season's make colonial butters. Danish, salted, per cwt, 204s to 210s; (rish creamery, sal tod 194s to 1965,' unsalted 1.96s to ]98s. exceptionally 200s; New Zealand, salted, 199s to 201s: Canadian, .salted, 188s to 190s; Dutch. &alted 1935, unsalted 192s;' Argencine, . unsalted, 1945; American creamery, salted? 18-ls to 186s. - . Cheese. —The market is firmer,- and pricetN hav-e a liardening tendency. Thero is a fair ■ demand: .
