Mil J. L. GARY INS PREDICTIONS
(Received .October 2, 10 a.m.)
LONDON, October 7. Mr J. L. Garvin, editor of the " Pall Mail Gazette," predicts that great things are likely to happen even before tho winter. A glance at the map shows that if the wedge cuts 20 miles further to the cast, to the BapaumePeronne Road, it will endanger communications that are vital even for a largo, part of the line in front. He thinks that the enemy are.alive to tho danger and are already preparing a retirement. Therefore a sudden debacle is unlikely. He- expects that Sir Dougla-s Haig and General Joffre will boforo tho end of the year deal more staggering blows than any yet delivered. Referring to Marshal yon Hindfiiburg, ho says the latter under-rated tho difficulties before him, and was unable to undertake a . great advance against Russia. He is "therefore concentrating his forces, to v smash ■ Rojimania and hold tho line from -the Baltic to the ttlack Sea and will return west before the Franco-British army has. time to deliver a' knock-out blow.
