RAKAIA RED CROSS.
The monthly meeting was held on Thursday, when there- was a fair attendance. The president (Mrs Boag) occupied the chair. The- treasurer's report stated that £17 lGs Gd had beoii| forwarded to Christchurch as a donation to "Our Day" Fund, and £5 for the re-equipment of the hospital ship Marama. There was a baiancc in hand of £49. Mrs Hardy, Mrs Penny, and Miss Hardy reported an improvement in the amount of work done in each department. The sum of £10 was voted for material for garments, £10 for bandage material, and £o for wool. Mrs Blakiston stated that the riiembers of the Savage Club could not give a concert in llakaiii before December, so Mrs Penny undertook to arrange a concert, to be given by a company from Afihburton, in October. A sale of produce, cakes, etc., would also be heid. Miss .Goodwin agrend to sell badges to augment the proceeds. A motion of sympathy was passed to Mrs W. Magson in tho death of her brother.
