AUSTRALIA'S FINANCE.
MELBOURNE, September 28. The Federal Budget provides for an inereaso'in the old age and invalid pensions from 10s per week to 12s 6d, involving an additional .annual expenditure of £87.000. Last year pensiona cost £2,859,766, and maternity allowances absorbed £659,715. For new works tho sum of £4,394,187 has been allotted, including £150,000 for the Federal capital, on which £856,000 has already been spent. The House received the taxation proposals cheerfully.
