NEW ZEALANDERS ENGAGED.
AN IMPORTANT POINT TAKEN
WELLINGTON, 28. The following special message has been received from the New Zealand OHicial War Correspondent under date September 25: — The' veteran brigade of the New Zealand force had its chance in today's renewal of the offensive which wa"s commenced, on the 15th inst.
The.men advanced as if they were on parade, on a front, of 1800 yards, taking a. line of trendies and penetrating to a depth of 800 yards. Owing largely to the excellent work of tho artillery, the resistance was not prrent, but the brigade killed and took prisoner a considerable number of the. enemy, and captured the important afcroug point north of Piers known as " factory corner." The'-'casualties were slight. To-night the brigade 'is tligging-in on the new )ine. Up to tlio present the New Zealand troops have reached their objectives |on ovory'occasion, doing all they Were asked to ftitd something more.
