On Friday the great lied Cross appeal is to be made, when, it is estimated, nearly 500 ladies will be helping, selling badges and attending to the various stalls.
The final meeting of the Daffodil Day Committee was held yesterday. The statements of accounts-showed a net credit balance of £420 18s 6d, of which one-half was to be handed over to the V.M.C.A. Ladies' Auxiliary Hutment Fund, and the other to the Lady Liverpool Fund.
The Conciliation Council met yesterday to consider a dispute between the Christchurch Farriers' Industrial Workers' Union and the employers. Mr J. 11. Triggs, Conciliation Commissioner, presided. The statement of claim was practically the same as the conditions of the old award, wages being the only clause in which changes wore suggested. The union assessors accepted the increase made under the; Auckland award, but suggested that an increase of a half-penny an hour should bo given to the floormon. This was agreed to, the wages becoming Is 4§d for farriers and Is 3£d for flooiv men. The award was made to date from October 1, tho term to coincide with that of the Auckland award, which would expire in March, 1918.
