THE TONGARIRO ABANDONED.
NAPIER, 'September 25. Tlie diver's report on the Tongariro is unfavourable to the continuance of further salvage operations. Both halves of the ship have broken up and it would be impossible to conduct operations on a paying basis. A small coastal vessel standing by has been recalled.
