field BRANCH

-. The annual meeting of- the -"Westerfield branch of the Red Cross Society ■ was held in. the schoolrooni on Thursday, September 21. About 20 members were present, and Mesdames Galbraith, Watson, Hunter, Wood, and Espagne very kindly camo up from Ashburton; the two former ladies gave short addresses. The report was read by Miss Coward (the secretary having resigned), and Miss Fechney, the treasurer, read the balance-sheet; the latter proved the finances to be in a very satisfactory |state.

The work done during the year was as follows: —137 bandages, 48 scarves, 196 facecloths, 34 towels, 57 medicinecloths, 41 traycloths, 12 draw-sheets, thren sheets, 50 pyjamas, 46 underpants, 44 day shirts, 46 bed jackets, two dressing gowns. 61 singlets, 36 pairs of socks, 30 girdles, three lounge suits, ,12 nightshirts, six waistcoats, | nine Balaclavas, five kneecaps, and two hot-water bottle covers; total, 969. Mrs Ga-lbraith and Mrs Watson [complimented the members on the exicelleut work done during the year. Mrs Coward was again elected president, and Miss Coward treasurer and secretary. Afternoon ten was nrovidwl by members, and much enjoyed by all.
