NEW BISHOP OF ARMIDALE.

SYDNEY, September 22. The Reverend ■ Shields, rector of St. James's, Sydney, has been appointed Bishop of Armidale.

QUEENSLAND PARLIAMENT. BRISBANE, September. 22. ' The Assembly read for the" third time the Upper House Abolition Bill. A no-confidence motion arising out of Mr Fihelly's speech on Irish affairs, was defeated, and, an amendment expressing confidence being carried by 42 votes to 24.
