Mr Braun, telegraphing from the Roumanian Headquarters on September 20, states that Roumania is beating off fierce Austro-German attacks in Transylvania. . The Roumanians are figliting with groat tenacity and strength, and have organised defensive works in the I occupied territory. • -.Mackensen's offensive in the Dobrudja has now been definitely checked. Public opinion during the Dobrudja retreat remained calm, despite the proximity of the enemy to Bucharest, the constant arrival of reinforcements keeping up the people's confidence. The Serbo-Croatian divisions, formed from Austro-Hungarian prisoners in Russia, are fighting magnificently.
