GRIP AGRI-MOTOR.
SUCCESSFUL TRIAL AT METHVEN
A trial of the Samson sieve-grip agrimotor was conducted on tho farm of Mr W. Morgan, Methven, on Thursday last. There was ;'a large attendance of farmors and others, including a number of ladies.
An 8-10 horse-pull, four-cylinder engine, equal to 25 lorse-power, was shown,, -dray/ing five furrows, which Avas done with considerable ease, at a paco of four miles per hour. Exhibitions of.. discing were also given in a most satisfactory .manner. ThjO engine. was handlod with ease, Mrs ''Morgan taking a turn.at the wheel. The gripl of the front wheels makes tho engine easy to turn and guide. Besides the I many good'points in its construction^ tho special featur© of this motor is tho wheels. Instead of having solid bands, the wheels are formed of a cen-tre-rim affixed to the spokes and two outer rims, and tbo' 1 grips aro affixed ;at an angle from 'the:-centre to the outer rim, thus leaving ari open space between tho grips. The soil, instead <rf packing'under.tho wheoln, ''"sieves" pi: pushes .its.way through them, preventing the land'■'becoming consolidated, and making jt, easy to drill. Those present were pleaded frith tlio result of the trial, and thanked the demonstrator for introducing tho tractor into the'district. ' ;
Threo cheers were given for Mr and' Mrs Morgan for providing lunch, tHe proceeds of which were devoted.: to tli»Sailor Heroes' Fund.■-,.' ■'•-"■ ■,■• :
