ALIENS ON LOCAL BODIES.

An interesting question recently wasraised by «■ local body in the.provincial district of Wellington, said the Minister of Internal Affairs to-day. The question was as to the right .of a German or of a. New Zealand resident born in Germany to retain his seat on tho county council of the district. The matter was referred to the Minister and lie has replied that tho-e is no provision of law under which the member referred to can be deprived of lain seat on account of the fact of his having -been bom in Germany. In the particular ease in question tho member of the county council had been naturalised in Now Zealand a number of years.
