The High Commissioner reports: — LONDON, September 19. A French official message says: — North of the Somme we captured a knot of trenches 200 metres south of Combles.
South of the- Sommc the combat continues with bitterness. Our infantry captured the village of Deniecourt, containing the last of tho defenders, and reached a kilometre southwards. Simultaneously we captured |a trench westwards of Horgn.v, and chased the enemy out of three little woods southeastwards of Deniecourt. Wo occupy soveral trenches to the south-west. The total prisoners taken on September 17-18 in this ' sector ; 'number 1 oUU.
