ASHBURTON YARDS—THIS DAY
There was only it moderate attendance at the weekly stock &*le held: at 'the" Ashburtoii yards td^dttj, and the entryVwas ilie smallest for some considerable, time-/ the yarding only 891, as against V 2461 at the Tinwald yards last week, and 3176 at the Ashburton yards the preTions week. The yarding of fat sheep totalled 162, as against 360 last week, and included 96 fat. ewes and 66 fat wethers, the previous week's totals being 202 and 158 respectively. Although the yarding was a small one, and only sufficient for local .requirements, buyers were not prepared to .. give ■■? up to owners' reserves, and of the total yarding only 30 wethers and a few singlo ©wee were: sold at auction. All the ewes changed hands privately after the sale;^ The bulk of the yarding of ewes was the property of Mr J. llobinson, Tinwaldj and these made from 26s to 295, .whilo one extra prime ewe brought 38s: Wethers made up to 335.
THig yarding of store sheep. totalled 729, oompai-ed with 2101 last week, and-there, was a fairly good demand at current 'rates. The first lino of ewes and lambs oflVvod '.at an Ashburton sale this season, althoTigli a small bno, made. 19s, and were again' sold privately after the. sale at 20s: while -a small line wns passed at 15s.
