The ordinary fortnightly meeting of tho Loyal Ashburton Lodge, Independent Order of Oddfellows, Mani Chester Unity, was held in the Theatre 1 Royal on Friday evening, when N.G. I Bro. Geo. Sohvay presided over a fair attendance of members. The sick visitors' report showed that seven brothers remained on the funds, and sick pay amounting to £10 3s 4d was passed for, payment, and dues amounting to £10 8s lid were collected. Reference was made to the long connection with the .lodge and the good service rendered by the late Bro. John Swanson, and a letter of sympathy was ordered to be sent to his widow. It was decided to send a letter of thanks to the band for turning out at the annual church parade. The white and blue degrees were given in open lodge, and the third sentiment was given and responded to. One candidate was proposed for membership, and the lodge dosed with the usual formalities.
