LONDON, September 17. ■ Sir Douglas Haig reports: — Two local counter-attacks were bent-en off, and we hold the line gained yesterday, running 500 .yards north of High Wood and including the whole of the large villages of Courcelette, Martinpuich, and Flers, each fully twice the size of Guiliemont. upwards of oO machine-guns have been i taken or destroyed, and much material I captured. Two additional German aeroplanes were destroyed on Friday, and two additional British machines are missing.
