. , (PIRFHESS ASSOCIATION) Wellington, March 1. 1 The Customs revenue for February was £163,072, against £127,248 for the preceding month, and £164,846 for the corresponding month last year. Auckland contributed £37,376, Wellington £31,900, Lytteltbn and Chrißtchurch £29,873, Dunedin £38,746. For the eleven montha ending yesterday the total Customs revenue collected in the colony was £1,500,307, which exceeds the Treasurer's estimate for that period by £36,557.; The beer duty last month was £5038 -^preceding month £5066, and February, 1892, £5145. Auckland paid £1089, Wellington £534, Christchurch £873. Dunedin £1209. For the eleven months the tax paid was £53,847, exceeding the estimate for that period by £680.
At a meeting held on Tuesday night in one of the Somerset sample rooms, it was decided to form a football club to be icalled "The Ashbcrton Junior Football Club." The meeting was largely attended and about forty members have already been elected. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Lane for the use of the room. A collision occurred in T.yttelton Harbour on Tuesday between the steamers Bimutaka and Coptic and the coal hulk Lota, iv which the Coptic got knocked about a good deal The accident was caused by the breakage of the telegraph wire from the bridge to the engine-room of the Rimutika, by which the order '• full speed ahead " was wrongly given.
