John McNairn and Co., Glasgow, re* port under date, January 20 : — Butter sinse last issue has been very quiet, with a downward tendency, and we must quote lower rates to-day all round. The heavy phipments reported from Melbourne and also from New Zealand make buyers only take from hand to mouth, and we feel that lower prices will have to be taken very shortly. Cheese are strong and advancing. The high prices of bacon ctuif* are putting buyers on to cheese, and these last* ten j?«ys there has been a large trade doing at'advancing rates. The first shipment 6f 'JJeala'nds have landed this week, for yh}ch ife haye realised &6s co "^Bs. The quality was fairly satisfactory for tries season of the yea,r. The' pfospects for pheese are very good, and we can advise nhipraeuts, ■
