Resident Magistrates' Courts.
Per J'rkss Association, Wkm-ingtojt, February 21. The Conference, consisting of Mr Haselden, Under-Secrebary of Justice, and Messrs Robinson, Beetham, and Brabant, Resident Magistrates, who have been sitting hare for the past fortnight, concluded and signed their report to the Minister of Justice this morning. The Conference dealt with the question of solicitors' costs and the rules of procedure in Resident Magistrates' Courts under the Act of 1887 and its amendments, with a view .to obtaining simplicity and uni-' formity. The Conference have drawn up codes with this view. They have also considered the regulations under the Imprisonment for Debt Abolition Act, 1874, with a view to remedying defects in the I existing rules, and to proposals for the amendment and consolidation of the Acts dealing with Reside nt Magistrates Courts, The reco.ninen'Ja*ioKS of the Conference are embodied in the report, and should they meet with, the Minster's approval they will be submitted for the approval of His Exre lency, md that being granted effect wiU be given 'o them at an early dare.
