King was reelected Chairman, In tha course of some remarks he intimated that it was likely a public subscription would be raised to cwry out protective works at the breakwater ; also that plant not required should be sold to raise funds to improve the harbor. Sail Drowning- t'aie. The body of a lad named Wood, who on Sunday morning was washed out to sea whilst bathing, from the beach at Omata, has not been recovered. Particulars now to hand state that he was" a goort swimmer, bub got where there was a strong current which carried him out to sea ia sight of his horrified companions, who were unable to render any assistance.
