Annual Sale of Stud Sheep.
Mr F. M. Rickinan's annual sale of stud sheep was held at the Ashburton county saleyards on Thursday. Mr John R. Bland was auctioneer (for Mr John (*. Restell, in conjunction «rith the Loan and Mercantile Ajjency Company), and conducted a sals which, taken in the aggregate, was one of the most satisfactory ever held in the district—the whole entry having been cleared, with the exception of a few half bred rams. Those who kno«r Mr Rickman know that his sheep would come forwarc^ in the pink of condition, if they are to come at all, and the entry of Thursday did not belie the breeder's reputation. \lfc was, in fact, subject of 1 remark)—the splendid condition of the : sheep,—and there were those among the crowd vftip attended who could not re. press their astonishment that such sheep could be produced upon the plains. The following are the prices obtained: —1 stud Shropshire ram, at 6Ags ; 1 at 6J; 1 at 6; 2at f,f; 2atsi; 2at 4J; I at 4i ; 2 at 3£ ; 59 at4f ; $0 at 4£ ; 2 Shropshire Down ram lambs, at 3f ; 3 at 3; 5 fit 3£; sat 3f; 5 at 3J ; 4at 3 ; 3 specially bred English Leicester rams, aj s£; 9 two-tooth English, Leicester'jams at 41: 2at4 ; 2 at U ; 2at2£ ; 2at 5 ; II at 3| ; 15 English Leicester ram lambs «t 3& j 105 at 3}; 13 halfbred ram lambs at J ; 19 at f j 4 English Leicester ranis at 3] ; 12 ai If; 22 Lincoln rams at 14 ; 11 Leicester ewe lambs at 2; 10 at l|: 5 at H ; 96 at 1£ ; 25 halfbred ewe lambs at |; 6 purebred Shropshire ewes *t 4gs. -
