HAMPSTEAD.
The monthly meeting of the Hampstead School Committee was held on Tuesday evening. Present — Messrs Andrews, Orr, Bisset, Sage, Meaclem, and Kickman. Mr Andrews was appointed chairman in the absence from illness of Mr Crooks, for whom and for Messrs Pickford and Elliot apologies were nude. Corrcspor derice was received from tne Board of Education, forwarding results of pupil teachers' examinations. Miss Williamson and Mr M. Kerr had passed the fourth year examination. Miss Bell had failed in the second year, but would be considered as having passed for the first year. The Board also wrote re drainage, recommending the Committee to apply to the Town B^ard to form the side channel. —The Secretary to inform the Board that the charnel cannot be made to carry off the drainage from the school until the drain through the school groundp is raised to a higher level. The list of candidates for seats on the Board was considered, and it was decided to vote for Mrs Wilson and Messrs Peryman and Meredith.
Mr J. W. Sawle wrote statiug that he could not accept nomination for a seat on the Board, not being able to spare the time.
A protest was received against the result of the recent pupil teachers' election, on the ground of irregularity in conducting the voting—lt was decided to refer the question to the Board. The headmaster reported, number on roll 382, average attendance 308. Thirtyone new scholars had joined since the holidays, and mora are coming. The report was considered satisfactory. Messrs Bisset and Elliot were appointed Visiting Committee for the month. Account. )Bi, was passed for payment. It was resolved, without dissent, to respectfully request the Board of Education t) support Mr Wright's notice of motion, suspending the notice given to the headmaster till after next examination.
