RELIEF FOR QUEENSLAND.
%Ye are glad to know that practical sympathy for the sufferers by the Queensland floods is already being evinced. The Imperial Government has expressed willingness to ask fora Parliamentary grant in aid of the sufferers should it be needed — which it assuredly is. The various Australian Governments have expressed sympathy and will no doubt help to the best of their ability, and the New Zealand Government asks the various local bodies to take steps towards sending relief. It will be seen by a report in another column that the Borough Council had the matter under consideration last night, when it was decided to open subscription lists and call a public meeting to Revise
means of assisting the unfortunate sufferers. We hope the meeting will bo held without delay and be successful in its object. Meantime «»he gives twice who gives quickly," and contributions in either coin or kind will be received by his Worship the Mayor or the Town Clerk, and promptly forwarded.
