Per Kress Association, Lowdon, February 9. Mr Jesse Collings, in moving his amendment to the Address in Reply, affirming that the measures for the relief of agricultural laborers ought to have precedence of the Home Rule question, charged the Government and their supporters with evading the promises made at election time to the agricultural community. Mr Gladstone, in replying to Mr ColHngs, asserted that the Parish Councils Bill was intended to improve the dwellings of agricultural laborers and to facilitate compulsory acquisition of land. . .The amendment was rejected by a majority of 84. The Bill introduced by Mr C. /Disraeli, member for Cheshire, provides tliat all foreign meat landed in England must be /narked at the port of arrival. (Received February 10, 10.20 a.m.) London, February 9Seven thousand applications have heen received for a hundred and ten seats in the strangers' gallery of the House of Commons from persons desirous of hearing Gladstone's speech on Home Rule.
