Wellington, February 9. A case of ve-y considerable interest is set down for argument in chambers on February 14. It arises out of the decision of the Privy Council in regard to the appointment of Mr W. B. Kd wards as a .1 uds?e of the Supreme Court. The decision nf the Privy Council, tha f. the cp 4 joiutmuut was not legal, gave rise to tlie question of whether the ac.s of Mr EJwtrd.s while officiating as Judge hold goo«l. This question is to bo decided in tht case to he heard on February 14, when 11. B. Vogel will move for a writ of Habeas Corpus in respect of John Aldridge, who was sentenced to a term of imprisonment by Mr Ed wards, ou a charge of forgery. Tho ground of the motion is that Mr Edwards wa-j nob empowered to comm<t Aldridge to gaal.
