Pahiatua, February 8. The man Aldiidge, alias Smith, who has been arrested in Melbourne for the larceny of goods belonging to his mate, Jacobsen, is a widower with three children who resided at Danevirke until about two years age. He will be charged with, murdering Jacobsen when he is brought back to Pahiatua. Constable Cooper le*vtß for Melbourne on Friday next to identify Aldridge. The men were engaged in bush felling on Hambrook's property at Tutaikttra, when Jacobsen disappeared. Ever since foul play has been suspected, and a few weeks ago Jacobsen's remains were found by Constable Cooper and an acting detective who had been sent up to investigate the caie, The discovery was kept secret until Aldridge's whereabouts were ascertained, when the charge of larceny was preferred against him, evidence having been obtained of his disposing of goods known to have belonged to Jacobsen.
