The Khedive refrains from suppressing fanaticism, The Khedive proceeds to-day to open ' the Asaiout railway, and the natives are preparing to extend him a hearty reception. Great precautions have been taken in Cairo to repress any rising which may take place in the absence of the Khedive. Lord Cromer (Sir Evelyn Baring) has wired to the British Government that Egypt is still in a disturbed state, and that he holds the extra troops in readiness for any emergency which may arise. Paris, February 4, The French Government have encouraged the Porte to summon a Conference of the Powers to consider the Egyptian question, and have induced the sending of letters to Egypt that the Porte sustains the rule of the Khedive. THE CABLE QUESTION. The Drench Government approve of the proposal to hold a Convention to consider the advisabieness of connecting Queensland and New Caledonia by cable. EX-KING MILAN. In the action brought against exKing Milan, of Servia, a Parisian danseuse has recovered the sum of £1 2,000 on a breach of promise. King Milan is bankrupt, and has asked the Servian authorities to assist him to pay.
