London, February 2. In tho House of Commons to-day, Sir A. Kay-Shuttleworrh, replying to a question asked by Sir G. S. Baden Powell, stated that British subjects in Hawaii were not exposed to danger. Colonel Saunderson, in a vigorous speech, declared Father M'Fadden (in attempting to arrest whom Inspector Martin lost his life at Gweedore in 1889) io be a mnrderous ruffian. The statement resulted in au uproar, and Colonel Saunderson withdrew it on Mr Gladstone and the Speaker appealing to him not to excite the Irish. , London, February 3. Mr Pritchard Morgan tabled an amendment to the Address-in-Reply, urging the necessity of the appointment of a Minister of Mines. In the House of Lords Lord Onslow introduced a Bill the provisions of which are to prevent English or River Plate mutton being,sold as the production of New Zealand. (Received February 4, noon.) London, February 3. Mr Chamberlain, in'" an incisive speech, attributed the trouble in Egypt solely to Mr Gladstone and Mr Morley's speeches raising false hopes in the Khedive's breast. He condemned the release of the Gweedore prisoneis, and asked for a simple assurance that imperial supremacy would be mamtain'ed\ over the Irish Parliament. Mr John Morley in reply contended that order had improved in Ireland, though its internal state was still unsatisfactory. He admitted that members of the Evicted Tenants Commission had betrayed nationalist, sympathies, but the question at issue was not a political one. He regarded the release of the Gweedore prisoners with complete satisfaction. Mr Maden will move a resolution in favor of payment ot'members. Sir C. Dilke will move the rejection of the Hours of Labor Bill.
