Their tender wbb the lowest of the eight which were received, though othere o&me very cloee to It. The total cost to the Coropn? of thfs section, Including corattmtoo, rain, equipment, and administration wHI exoeed tfco £60,000 provided by tho iAldboe Railway contract. . Tba Hne to be oonslmoted oxtenda from Spslngfiald to the Kowat Bnsh, adliUnoe Of five miles and a half. Two bridges are Eeqnited—a large one over tbe Big Kowal river, 373 ft In length ; a*<l oca of aoasllfcr dimensions, 155f« long, over the Little Kowal. These bridges will be constructed j of iron cylinders, Thore will a'ao he t, ibort tunnel, about ftnr or fi^e chains,j cccnpylng a central pon'tlon iv the line which fa the (subject of the contrast. The etrthwork to be done ie heavy throughout, —"Lyttelton Times."
