ELGIN SCHOOL
The annual treat an 4 di- übutlon of prfzas In connection with Elgin So'oi took place at E'gln last Tuesday. AYov midday tbe soho'ars with theli parents asseuabled at the school in full five. After a substantial lunch provided by the Committee bad been partaken of, sports, consisting of vtotog, jamplng, etc,, were entered Into with great spirit by the young people, Butst»nt!al monty prizes being given tor each event. The sport a having been conaluded, refreshments were again handed round, and then" an adjournment was made to the schoolroom where the prizes were distributed by Mr John Coohranp, Chairman of the Sobool Committee, He congratulated the scholars on fbeir successful work at the recent examination, and urged them to try and obtain still greater euooeee next year. The necessity of regular attendance was pointed out, and the parents were exported to endeavor to secure this dariog the ensuing year. Tte priias were then given, with a word of encouragement to the recipient In each case; Bjoks were given to all the scholars, a ptfc't In order of merit to those who had pascei the reipeotlre standards, and an award to each of the others. A vole of thanks was then passed to all concerned (Icc'udlng the ladles who had presided over the refreshments), the scholars shoeing tbelr appreolatlon of the efforts of the Committee in a hearty and vigorous manner. Holidays were then granted for sis weeks, and tbe gathering dispersed, all, both old and young, cppareatiy Having thoroughly enjjyed themselves. The following Is the Hat of prizas fn the standards:—
