Although there was a demand for good ,young sorts/in many instances buyers were not prepared to give vendors 1 reserves, notwithstanding which, however, a good few changed hands. We quote four to six year old mares and geldings, ;£zo to £27 ; seven and eight year old ditto, £17 to i medium sorts aged, £13 to ,£l7; hacks and light harness horses. £8, £10, jCio, £12; crocks, £l iosto £5. Implements — Dray and " frame, ; reaper and binder (McCormick), £25 ; express waggon, £20 10s ; Whitechapel cart, Poultry— Ducks, as gd per pair; fowls, is to 2s 3d per pair. Produce— Chick wheat, gs 6d per bag} oats, 2s to 2s 4d per bushel ; bat straw chaff,' £2 per ton ; potatoes (old), 4s 6d to CS ; new d,itto, id per lb. On Tuesday at the County Yards there were about 3900 sheep, 9 pigs, and 20 head of cattle yarded for the day. Being the day before Christmas, the butchers could not attend, and consequently mostly all the fat sheep were turned out. We sold on account of various clients 60 fat crossbreds,9s 6d ; 43 ditto merino, 3s j>a ; 211 four tooth crossbred wethers, 9s '6d \ 263 two tooth crqssbred, 8s 8d; 2QO crossbred ewes with 221 lambi, 5s 8d counting everything; on account Of Mr T. Cavill we sold a specially good line of 67 crossbred ewes and 70 lambs by Bonifant's rams at 8s id each.
