Buckley, Aaekland, writes to the "Times" that he will shortly verily the allegations made »t the meeting of the Bank of New Zealand, The London Directors of the Bank of New Zealand are very confident as to tne Bank's condition, bnt at the same time have made fall preparation to meet any withdrawals whenever made. The members of the Exchange ridicule any alarm being felt by English depositors. ■"".-. The " Economist " considers that the Directors onght to meet Mr Buckley's charges with specific disproof and not by vague disclaimer. The Bank of New Zealand shares are quoted at— Old ißsue, £6 to £7 $ new issue, £9 to £10. (Received December 16, 1.19 p.m.) London, December 15. "Reynolds Journal " severely criticises the Bank of New Zealand^ balance sheet. _ Bydottst, Deoembei 16 The "Sydney Morning Herald" says that it is not surprising that the Bank's last report caused a little excitement in London. What happened in the colonies conld scarcely fail to happen in London where the distance often exaggerates the importance of events of this character. It says that it would be well perhaps if Mr Buckley's charges were more specifically met than has yet; been done, but that taking the very worst view of the case there appearß to be no cause for alarm, but every reason to hope that the Bank will share in the return" ing prosperity of the colony.
