(PER PRBSB ASSOCIATION.) London. December 13 The Gas Companies have been successful in replacing the hands oat on strike. December 14, Owing to the strike at the Victoria Docks, it is probable the export trade will be hampered. The police are aoting strictly in repressing any disorder. The Gas Companies are confident they *yill be able to obtain sufficient coal supply, despite the efforts made by the coal porters to prevent them. The gas strikers pickets have been withdrawn, as it was found impossible to prevent the engagement of blacklegs. One hundred and sixty Victorian dockers have struck, owing to non-union carmen and companies resisting the demand made. The sailors and firemen have agreed to join with the Union in boycotting the Gas Company, whioh has arranged to [ bring coal from Hamburg, The Gas Company have applied for warrants against thirty of the porters engaged by them who have left without giving notice. Melboubnb. December 14 Another phase of the engineers' dispute has cropped up here. 'Jhe Engineers' Institute have notified to Messrs Howard, Smith and Co. that the engineers will go out on strike unless a satisfactory explanation is given by the 28th inst, as to the removal of one of the engineers of their steamers.
