toYDNEY, Deoember 13 At » meeting of shipowners to-day it was resolved that for the safety of ships and passengers it'was absolutely necessary that the captain should have supreme command and full power to adopt any check or precaution m the engine-room he deems necessary, and it was also resolved to support financially or otherwise, any company attacked by the Engineers' Association. News has been received from Noumea that five desperadoes, after indulging m bushranging for a time, murdered a storekeeper there and then made their escape. It is believed they have fled to Australia.
