(per press association.) London, Ootober 12 It is expected the demand of the coal porters will be conceded. The stokers a c* however, striking. London, December 13 A strike has begun at all the gas works m South London and the committee are endeavoring to have the dispute settled by arbitration. The Mansion House Committee and Mr H, Labouchere, M.P., condemn the strike. The Metropolitan Gas Company has engaged three thousand hands and expect to win the struggle if the coal porters fail to block the coal supply. The company are arranging for Hamburg bottoms. The masters have conceded ten centimes to the French nailmakerß who were out on strike.
