MOUNT SOMERS.

A concert m aid < f the liqudatlon of tho debt m connection with the Presbyterian Church was held m the Sohoolroom, Mount Somers, on Thursday evening last. The night, although somewhat breezy, was fine, and the objoot being a good one, the attendance was large. Many visitors from SprlDgbnrn and ourrounding districts ware present and the chair was occupied by tho Rev B. Flnlayson. A very lengtby programme consisting of selections from tho " Christian Oholr ; " and songs and loloa wan gone through by the <hurch oholr under the leadership of Mr Jamoa Price, Mra Finlayaon accompanying on the piano and Messrs Patton and Foreman on tho violin. It had been arranged that tho concert should consist of two parts, the former botng sacred, the latter aeoular, an arrangement which was carried out id its entirety. The performers acquitted themselves admirably, and the aoloi by Misies Johniton and ?rioe, and the duet by Mrs btewart and Miss Price wore exceedingly well done, while the deep bass Toioe of Mr J. Del low In hla Boog • Forget if you can, but forgivp," was heard to advantage. A eong by two little girls, Misses J. Lnmble and A. 0. Finlayaon and a reoitttlon entitled the " Mount Somerß Choir," by Master Ficlayson, were also much appreciated. A most pleaslog feature of the concert was Been m tho forethought displayed by the Indies of tho congregation, who had kindly supplied refreshments for tho audience, and during the interval ample justice was done to the repast which had been provided. Mr and Mra Hood, assisted by a of number willing hands wore moat lnde* \ fatlgable m their attention to the bodily wants of those present. At the oloie of the concert Mr Ft d lay son made a few remarks to the effect that the object of the concert was, apart from pecuniary matter*, to establish a thoroughly effiolent oh lr, »a well as to developo any latent talont that might be lylDg dormant.
