SOUTH RAKAIA ROAD BOARD

The usual monthly meeting was held on Thursday, Present — Messrs Coster (ohairman), McLean, and titrlngfellow. At a special meeting held on tbe 28th November, all tbe members being present, It w.s reported by the sub-committee that It was advisable to m.tal aud blind about one mile of tiprotts road, and about oue aua a balf mile of the Kyle Rood — Carried. Mr R. Mulligan at the special iceet'ng handed In his resignation as a momber of the Board.

The Olerk'4 report was read and considered. He recommended th»t „ .mall home be ereoted for the use of the poundkeeper.

A large number of small birds eggs are being brought lv.

He had charge! the County Council at the rate of 6a per open crossing for nuintena.oe. The clerk was Instructed to make out a statement m detail before forwarding to the Oounoll.

It was resolved to oall tenders for bllndlug Mvinwarlng's road where latsly metalled, on the motion of Mr McLean seconded by MrStrlogfellow. The Board's solicitors wrote relative to land taken from Mr Anderion for gravel purposes, and sugg-stlng certain steps. — Consideration deferred, Mr Mulligan's resignation was accepted with regret, and the Clerk was instructed to taVe ths ucoe.siry .tops for an election.

Mr W, L. AUan wrote withdrawing his letter re metalling Sfrott's road, and making other suggestions. Mr Pyoroft wrote asking to rent the plantation on the main road for looking after the foncoa, and a small rental. Consideration postponed till next meeting.

The acting poundk.eper forwarded an account for feed purchased. The Chairman to arrange name and aiao remuneration.

Mr Osley wrote on account of Mr Primmei'a section 6128, and the road runniag through. Conß.deri.tioa postponed till next meeting, the Clerk to Jo.k Up the matter m tho meantime

Mr vV. H. Bule wrote offering land for gravel purposes for the sum of £10. Mr Mc.roy also wrote ou the same aubj.ot off.riug a pit for £10. The off.rß were Dco.pted on tho motion of Mr fcUringfoiloiY, tecoaded by Mr McLean *

It was resolved t , havo the footpath on south side JRolloatoa street formed

The following tenders were accepted : Metalling Bprott's road at Ud per yard, blinding same, Is 8d per chain, T. (JroniUa Metallic g Kyle road, 0. tiheehun la 3d per yard, and blinding same at Ib lOd per chain. Poundkoeper and Banger, G bhellook for all fees.

Accouuts were passed for payment for £169 18s 3d.

The Olork waa instructed to dispose of a number of gum saplings off tho gravel pit opposite Swains, to the best adventage. It was decided to hold the next meeting on January 9th, 1890.

The Board t.en went into Cemetery business. — It was decided to allow Mr Brimicombe to have the hay In dispute for the labor of gutheijng same. Also to let tha caretaker have the grasß this year for tho cutting. Offioial intimation was received from the Oounoll ra subsidy granted,
