Received.— (4) From Mr Milsom making an offer of £1 for the grass m Baring Square. Matter referred to Works Committee.-— (5) From N,Z.L. tSj M.A. Co. asking permission . to sub-lease their reserve to Mercantile Fin&nqe Go. Granted on the condition that the Council's rights under the present lease are not prejudiced.— (6) From Mr 0. Gmbb aaking that his name be substituted on the rate and burges3 rolls, for that of Mr D. H. Brown, m respeot of premises lately oooupied by the Aahburton Bread Co. BESEBVES COMMITTEE. * The Reserves Committee reported on a number of matters whioh had been submitted to them. They recommended that m future^ m the case of a ■ bankrupt estate, a property underleased from the Oounoil thatistftkop possession of by a mortgagee, should he either at once transferred to the mortgagee, or should be definitely reiiuquished by him and resumed by the Council. The Committee alsp. recommended that all insurances on the Council reserves should be arranged to expire oh the same date. The f aot that the Building Sooiety had not kept up the insuranoe on Andrewea' former premises had been brought under the consideration of the Committee and. the Mayor had been requested to interview the Sooiety on the matte*, ■ ; With respeot to the hat olause m the ! report the B/ni|dipg,Booiety wrote stating that ' they did not intend to effeot any insuranoe on the building. The Chairman said that the Mayor had , efleoted an insuranoe of £300 on the premises, m question. !
