WAYSIDE CAMPS.

TO THE EDITOR. Six,— Will you iindly allow me space m your columns to ask if it is legal to form camps by the roadside, to the danger of the ' travelling public? Turnipg a corner the other day, I found one side of the road occupied by a shanty on wheels, sacks of com, and a fire j on the other side a line of drays the bodies all on end, as if to preset* the most startling appearance possible to any c feckless traveller s horse. In ray case, my nag, -well fed to do hi§ 30 and odd miles * journey, swerving from the shanty on one side, nearly brought rue up against the- drays on the other side ; and vice versa m returning a few hours later. Coming the same way a few -days afterwards, another cart was meeting mine, just m the narrow channel that the "boss" of this camp had condescended to - leave between his shanty on the cne side and his drays on the other, and we narrowly escaped accident. Now, is this sort of .obstruction legal ? If it is, a by-law should be •passed forbidding it, -and at any rate the "^-boss" should be compelled to put all - his tfhings on one side of the road only, and never At a corner, and bis drays m their usual position, -the bodies not tilted. These obstructions, bad enough at day, are most ■dangerous at night. With many apologies. J am, etc., Viator. atth November.
