Newcastle, Novembea; 21 Four miners, named Whitehead Ryan, King and White, were ascending a shaft m the South Burwood mine this evening, when the cage being over- ! drawn struck the poppet heads. The concussion caused the rope to break, when the men were precipitated to the bottom of , the shaft, a distance of 459 ft, and were smashed to pieces.
