HORSE MARKET
Mr t. bullock Mr T. Bulloci. reports for the week ending Saturday, November 16 : — There was again a Jarge entry — viz., 46 — made up of a few medium draughts and a large number of hacks and light harness horses. There was an average Attendance of farmers and other country settlers ; but biddings were extremely slow— in fact, one of the dullest sales that has been experienced for some weeks past, and more than a usual number were turned out unsold. Farmers appear to be very chary m buying, excepting for immediate requirements, apparently preferring to see sheep feeding on the pastures instead of idle horses. Out of the day's entry of 46 only 13 were sold, as follows :— A p-ir of medium draughts brought ios ; others £<j 15s ; light hamesjj horses, £6, £10 ios j. inferior, £2 ios ; hacks, £7 s ios. £3 ios, £4, £$, £6, £7 15s. P&orERTiEs — Previous to the usual horse sale I offered a number of sections m the Methven townsliip on account of the mortf l 2 e f , _ X ako offered the Mount Somers oad Board cottage, &c., together with 2 foods 33 perches, situated tn the Mount Somers township. For the Methven property there was a spirited bidding, the eight sections —viz., Lots2,33> 54- SS- 56, 57. 114, 115— containing m all two acres, with a dilapidated blacksmith's shop erected thereon, brought For the Mount Somers property £175 Was bid. This not reaching reserve, "was passed; but afterwards there were enquiries which are likely *o lead to a sale being effected- ! Privately I have disposed of Lots 62 and 63 containing 1 rood 38 perches, corner of South" East Town Belt and Wakanui road for £ot 97 t containing b a f- a «-acre, Hampstead]
