EAST STREET HORSE MARKET.
WILLIAMS AND BLAND. Messrs Williams and Bland report having held their weekly sale of horses on Saturday 2nd November, 1889. There waß a good at'endance of farmers and others, and tbe bidding on the whole was very jfood, much more spirited than is the usual oase after the show, showing . that the demand for horses is not falling off, Out of an entry of 24 horses we sold 13, anything like good draughts sold well. There were a good many hacks entered, but they did not find Buoh a ready sale as is expected at this time of the year for shearers. We quote on account of Ml J. Dent, the bay gelding Punoh, 8 year* old at £26 ; medium mares and geldings. £19 ss, £18 5 3 , £17, £17 ; aged do, £13, £9 15s ; hacks, £8, £7 7s 6d, £5 10s, £5, £4 10*, £3 ' Produce— Uerwent potatoes 8s to 9i per bflg, Beed 5s to 7s ; bran 4* 6d ; ohlok wheat 8s to 10a per bag ; oa:s 2s 2d, 2s 4d to 2a 6d per bushel; crushed oats 2s 6d per bushel ; cheese 4£d to 5d per 1b ; sharps 7s 6d per bag ; furniture at fair rates. On Tuesday at the Aahbnrton yards, we held our usual weekly sale of fat and store Btook. The entry for the day consisted of 6220 cheep, and 69 cattle. The sheep consisted of crossbred and merino ewes and lambs, but owing to tbe dry weather there was a deoline oi fully Is 6d per head on all olasses of uheep. We quote fat oroMbreds 2 -tooth 15b; do, ewes, 13s lid; do, 4 tooth (shorn) Us ; merino wethers Us to 12s 6d ; fac lambs 8s to 9a ; store crossbred hoggets, 7a 9d, 11s, to 12s Id, oroßßbred ewes and li.mbs 10s to 12s Id ; merino do, 6s lOd to 7s lid. Pat Cattle -Steers £2 18a to £6; heifers £3 19d 6d ; Btora cows almost nn.
